Default Weatherbug - GPS - VZW

Please Login to Remove!

I wanted to ask if enabling GPS incurs any additional charges such as the $10 a month that VZNavigator costs.

Not sure that is correct. I have used the "My Location" choice with weatherbug and it works just fine with my GPS. I do have VZNavigator active so perhaps that opens it up, but the point is there are other apps that can use the Storm's GPS.

The internal GPS works for me with third party applications without subscribing to VZNavigator.

VZW is about profit, not us. That is the bottomline (pun intended).

Weatherbug and Trapster, to name a couple that I've tried successfully. Others have said that Garmin works fine as well.

For the most part, any app that uses GPS will work with the Storm. However, there are probably a few that currently don't (ie. Google Maps). That's due to the software programming, not any crippling on VZW's part. Quite a few people here still believe that VZW has disabled the internal GPS, but that simply is not true.
