If you have an att theme you wont see the maps. Try a non att theme and you will find them.

BB Maps is now service book driven, is it not? And being on T-Mobile, he wouldn't have that service book (since the Bold hasn't been released by T-Mo).

I know there are work-arounds, just seeing first if this is the problem or not.

IIRC I went to mobile.blackberry.com, and I believe I got mine from there. Though it would only show in any theme other then the ATT theme. I do not remember having to have service books sent, AFAICR I have not ever needed to send any service books. It's been a while, so I could be forgetting something.

When I got my bold it didn't have it installed by default. I had to add it, which I did via desktop manager (I first installed the 4.6 os on my machine). Then changed to non-at&t them and was able to see and use it.

I know that on my Cingular (ATT) BB, I had to download BB Maps from blackberry.com, as it was vendor coded not to load for vendor 102.

On the Bold though, I read that BB Maps is now service book driven. I do have a service book "BlackBerry Maps - NA [LbsConfig]". I seem to recall it works this way for all 4.5+ OS devices.

I do admit that I am unsure that this ties in to the OP's problem, I have read bits and pieces here and there and may very well have things confused.

If you don't have the BB Maps app at all, I would suggest starting with either BlackBerry or m.blackberry.com and download it first. It should be present after you make sure you even have the app. If not, I would then try to re-send the service books, and see if it shows up. I know for a fact it wasn't included with my stock OS and ultimately not included when I upgraded to .190 w/backup. I couldn't even find it listed as having it on DM. I don't recall having to send the service books though, so start with checking to see if you even have it, then download it.

HI there,
i have the same problem, and posted a question on another part within this forum.
check it out, it seems that there are some solutions, although I have not found it yet...

Hello,

I am on Orange France, have the BB maps installed on my device (BBmaps version 4.6.0), but can't acces it either and do not have the icon present. i don't know what BIS or BES is, sorry.
Does anyone know what I have to do to enable it?
re the solution from Nanu: I don't see the 234 UK [23403330] , but 208 FR [20800130] , in mu host routing tqble, does that matter or is the procedure the same?
I am a bit cautious in deleting all kinds of applications or accounts since I don't know what they do or what they are....

Thanks
jerome
