I have already found an KB (# KB10536)from BlackBerry that describes this problem and provides workarounds and a resolution. I am looking for help with the resolution. Here are the cause and resolution

Cause
The Microsoft Exchange Server is running a high-priority process such as a nightly backup or an update. When the BlackBerry Internet Service attempts to poll for new email messages, the polling cycle fails because it is considered a reduced-priority process. After consecutive failures of the polling cycle, the Microsoft Outlook Web Access integration becomes invalid.

Resolution
The server administrator who maintains the Microsoft Outlook Web Access server can increase the resources available to the Microsoft Outlook Web Access server so that external access to the server is not impacted.

What resources are they referring to?

I would just re-validate the account in BIS each morning. A P-I-T-A, but easy enough to do from the device itself.
