Default Active vs Non Active phone to get unlock

Please Login to Remove!

My buddy ported over to ATT. He is gonna sell me his storm. I am on att as well. I called verizon and asked for the unlock code. They said that they cant give it to me because the phone is not active in their system.

Thats a bunch of crap isn't?

Probably not. The reason that people give to unlock their Storm is to use it in another country (GSM), not so they can port it over to ATT. If the phone isn't hooked up to a contract Verizon's all done with it. They care about the customer, not the phone. You aren't a customer. You'll have to pay to unlock it I think.

They gave me the same business when I tried to get mine unlocked. The other excuse they gave me was that I didn't pay full retail price for the phone. Eventually (because it was on a corporate account), I was able to get the unlock code out of them.

Before he could give me the unlock code, we DID have to activate it on another one of our Verizon lines. After the unlock, we reactivated the other line and un-activated the Storm.

Yeah see that was my thought though. He paid for the phone, had it for two months, ported and paid the cancelation fee. Verizon got what they wanted out of it. Why cant they just give the code. They are trying to tell me i have to get it from att now. Which i know isnt right. THats why i though it was crap. I worried i will pay for it and then i wont have internet or mms or something.

Wirelessly posted

Pay an unlock company and provide them the imei instead of haggling with verizon, that's what I did.
