It's rumored that the next OS release for the 8300 serious will be 5.0.

Well hurry the heck up RIM! I'm sick of looking all outdated on these 8XXX devices!

It is expected that OS 5.0 should be out for 8XXX devices either by end of Q3'09 or early Q4'09. Thatz a long wait.. isn't it?

4.6 may not be necessarily better than 4.5. It's for a different class of devices with different processors and hardware.

Correct !! Moreover the 8320 and 8310 have very limited set of memory. I guess 4.6.x.yyy have more memory requirements which cannot be accommodated in the 8xxx devices.

OS 5.0 is obviously a complete redesign of the OS architecture but what is important is that it should be memory efficient.

I suspect you're expecting too much from 4.6. An OS update can only really do so much. It certainly won't add any hardware features.

Sprint will get it 6 months after the last wireless provider upgrades their OS. Ugh...
