Default Confused about software version..

Please Login to Remove!

Okay I have an 8800 and it has been giving me problems lately, last week it started to just freeze when I opened certain emails (seems random, those emails had nothing weird in them). I would have to do a battery pull every time, it's annoying as hell.

So anyways I thought I would throw the latest software on there (I last updated a couple months ago) and take it from there, and the sticky says: Latest OS: 8800 4.5.0.174/4.5.0.124 (English & East Asian). So I check what I have now and it's v4.5.0.81. That doesn't any any sense, isn't X.81 a higher number than X.174 ? I don't get it. The software platform on that release is 2.7.0.92 and I have 2.7.0.78 so that part is newer than mine, but the lower numbers on the OS/applications kind of threw me off, why are they lower if that release is newer?

Thanks.

The OS version number is actually 4.5.0.124.

You're misreading the numbers. The .124 is higher than the .81. Think of it like money in a sense, is $124 more than $81?

Yeah but it's different after the decimal point. You look at the first number first.

10.81$ is more than $10.124 because with the second one you only have really 12 cents, in the other you have 81 cents. You can have a ton of zeroes after either number which doesn't make one higher than the other although it would if there was no decimal before it..

But I guess it's actually different with the software numbers, so nevermind. I just got confused heh you're right I'll upgrade it now.
