Default Unable to Read application data

Please Login to Remove!

SO I upgraded my 8310 to 4.5.0.55 the other day and my desktop software to 4.6.0.12. When I try to sync my crackberry now it gives me an error. Just as it begins to update my contacts it says "Unable to Read application data". What is going on?

I've seen a few people have the same issue. Try deleting the Intelisync folder from your PC. Then reboot the PC and pull the battery out on the BB. When they both boot back up, try to sync.

Question Help!

BUMP.

I can't find the intellisync folder on Vista either and I get the "unable to read application data" error when trying to sync as well. It was syncing fine with 4.2 (T-Mo) and 4.6 DM without Media Manager. I upgraded to 4.5 and the current DM with Media Manager on the T-Mo site a couple of days ago.

Thanks.

Unhappy

^^^Actually, I can't find the Documents and Settings or Application Data folders as well.

Note: The search function in Vista is pretty useless.

I don't have Vista, but this works in XP. Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab.

Under Hidden Files and Folders, uncheck Do Not Show Hidden Files and Folders, and check Show Hidden Files and Folders. Click Apply and OK.

I'm not sure if this works in Vista, but you can check.

Edit... you probably have to be logged in as administrator.

Hi Daphne!!

You ROCK! That totally worked - I found the darn folder, thanks!

But unfortunately, deleting the intellisync folder didn't solve the "unable to read application data" problem.

Does anyone know how to get the previous version of 4.6 DM?

Thanks!

Hey, glad it worked.

You can download Desktop Manager here. There are different versions available.

Cool, thanks! I just tried downloading 4.6 from T-Mo again but this time without Media Manager and it still didn't work. Hopefully one of the ones on the link you provided will work!! Thanks again!!!

Talking Found one solution!

OK, so I downloaded another version of 4.6 (from the BlackBerry site, thanks to Daphne) and tried getting rid of the intellisync folder but that didn't work.

So, I tried syncing each outlook app by itself and all worked except for address book so I figured that's where the problem was and I went into Backup and Restore and removed the address book from the device thinking that I would just restore it again from a previous backup. But before I did that, my DM started acting up and didn't want to recognize my device for about 20 minutes so then by the time I got it to connect, I decided to just try syncing again since I have sync set for 2-way sync and my microsoft outlook was current since my sync worked just the other day.

Well, it worked, and the reason must have been that the application data that the intellisync was unable tor read was something that must have gotten corrupted in the address book itself.

What a nightmare. Well, at least I got it fixed. Hope this works for someone else.

I can't wait for the Javelin!

A corrupted entry in the address book, or calendar, can cause problems. I'm glad you got it fixed.

Smile my solution

Hi there
I tried deleting the intellisync folder and then taking the battery out as suggested and it created a different error. The error was something like there is no user information to synchronize. I had not deleted the intellisync folder from the recycle bin so I restored it and everything is working now.
Good luck.

I tried everything.. all those steps, and I still get the error. I was told it has something to do with the Microsoft Outlook (I use 2003), so just to test it, I had it sync to Yahoo, but I still got the error, so I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions?
