That's a core service. I believe you need to re-install the OS completely. Good time to backup and upgrade to the latest/greatest for your Pearl. "Always look on the bright side of life...." < /Monty Python >

thanks for this post. i just got my 7290 yesterday and have no clue what i'm doing. i followed the directions and now have the browser icon on my screen. i click on it, but after typing in any web address, i get the message: "The currently configured Browser profile, with a CID of "BrowserConfig", does not have an associated protocol stack registered with the Browser" and then just an "OK" button.
Can anyone help me out with this?
Thanks in advance!!

Hey
I have OS 4.5.0.124, downloaded it from this forum, and I'm using 8310 from Vodafone, but now I'm at Telenor without BIS/BES!
I did everything from this guide, I have those options, I inputed TCP settings, I have Browser on my BB's desktop, but GPRS just won't work! :(
It says "Unable to connect to the Internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider."
I used GPRS on my previous phones, so that's not the issue... :(

I dont know why, but Telenor decided NOT to make the TCP connection available on Blackberry phones. On other phones (I used it on Iphone and Nokia 6500) it works with Telenor... I checked that with their customer service and they confirmed - no BB with TCP
So you have two solutions:
1) get BIS from Telenor (1090 dinars/month plus VAT plus some post paid voice plan)
2) go to other carrier - I will be changing to mt:s soon, because I checked that TCP connection works on Blackberry with this carrier

Thank you very much!
I called Telenor, and they told me everything's OK?! Oh, that customer support... :(
But, you know what's funny? My sister uses my old 8700g with Telenor and everything works fine with TCP connection?!

You know how it works with customer service - out of 100 operators there is 1 capable, so you have to be lucky to get that 1 (I use one trick for that - I always go to "for communication in English press 2", because the English speaking operators are the most experienced )) trust me, it works!
I guess Telenor doesnt recognise your sisters BB8700 because of older firmware??? Dont know, I tried on two 8310's and didnt work...
BTW: if you are using prepaid, I recommend some "tarifni dodaci", for about 290dinars you get 50MB, which is enough for a month...

Oh man, I love you so much!
I check with mt:s and it WORKS!
So, I don't know what to do now...
Btw, I work as customer supporter and I know how it works, but usually everything's fine with Telenor's CS... I guess they failed this time...

I bet your sister is running OS 4.2.
Try downgrading your 8310 to OS 4.2 and see if it works.
I had a similar problem with T mobile Macedonia. TCP would work fine on 4.2, but when i upgraded to 4.5 it would give similar message to yours. Once I'd downgrade, it would work again. To this day I have no idea what the reason for this was.
Now I'm on Vodafone and no need for this little rig any more as I have BB service.
Let me know fi the downgrade solved the problem

I'm gonna go off topic for a second, but what you are saying does not make sense. You should be able to input the TCP setting ( the APN, Username and password) manually into ANY phone and it should work. The network has no way of distinguishing whether the device is a blackberry or a regular phone. The difference is, if you use regular TCP (GPRS) you will not get access to the RIM servers.

Well, I was asking myself the same question... When you log to the Telenor net (or any other net), the carrier identifies your handheld. For Telenor, if they identify your handheld as BB, they do not allow you to connect with TCP, you have to pay BIS. I guess the reason is the price (BIS: 1090 dinars x TCP: 290dinars)...
Trust me I was trying to find the answer for that many times and many times I was calling Telenor, but nothing helps, they just block BB's from TCP... So thats why next time I come to Belgade I am switching to mt:s...

Not a wise marketing move from Telenor as they are preventing you to spend the 290 dinars on regular TCP traffic.. I guess the telecoms do get greedy

So, where can I find OS 4.3 for 8310?
I will still have an option to record video, right?
