Default Upgrading OS, do you lose contacts and everything?

Please Login to Remove!

Thinking of going to .103 but before I do I wanted to ask if when you upgrade, you lose your contacts? I haven't synced mine with outlook yet and I'd hate to retype all those contacts in lol. Thanks.

You will get prompted if you would like to create a backup. Make sure you check that box and everything should copy over after the installation.

You will lose your 3rd party apps....You will have to reinstall them afterward.

Yes, that's correct.

This isn't a normal backup. It will copy 3rd party apps over after the install as adorkable stated.

If you've ever done a switch device wizard, it works the same way. It will copy all data, settings, AND 3rd party apps from the old device to the new one.

AFAIK, the backup/restore feature in loader.exe works the same way.

Yup, thats true. It WILL copy your 3rd party apps. I just wiped everything yesterday because my 9530 got stuck on the verizon screen. I reloaded the OS and all my apps were there.

The only thing that was not there were all my Blackberry Messenger Contacts. Its gonna be so tedious re-adding them all again :(

It is weird. You know, I did a full backup before I installed to new OS. Then on installation, the OS made a separate backup. So when I noticed that my contacts in BBM werent there, I restored from the first backup I made, and look! When I open BBM, it greeted me with the enter your name as you would like it to appear screen. lol..

That was the first time it did that. I have other backups (of course) but its about a week or so old. A lot has changed since then. lol
