My buddy has a Curve and today when he attempted to connect it to his USB port (drivers are installed) he gets the message "Power Surge on Hub Port - A device has exceeded the power limits of the Hub port". Sounds like a warranty exchange to me but does anyone know what could cause this?

When you wake up a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer from hibernation or from standby, you may receive the following error message:
Power Surge on Hub Port: A USB Device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port.
This error message is displayed even if there are no USB devices connected to the computer.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, disable the USB 2.0-enhanced host controller.
Note: When you disable the USB 2.0-enhanced host controller, you lose USB 2.0 functionality. That is, you revert to USB 1.1 functionality.

To disable the USB 2.0-enhanced host controller, follow these steps:

4. Right-click the USB 2.0-enhanced host controller, and then click Disable.

Note The name of the USB 2.0-enhanced host controller may vary.
5. When you receive the confirmation message, click Yes.
6. Close Device Manager.

I have the same problem with my 8320 that just started this morning. I tried the fix listed, but this did not help. I also deleted all of my USB connections, restarted my laptop and reinstalled the USB drivers, but this did not work. I also updated my desktop manager thinking that some drivers may have been corrupted, but this did not work. I tried using a different cable, but no luck. I connected the device to my Macbook and received a similar error message.

This error only appears when I plug the mini-usb into the 8320 directly. I do not get this error when I connect the charging stand and place the 8320 in the stand.

I had a user with this issue - it was the blackberry that was bad - not the USB ports on the PC (we tried more than one computer and got same message)- he was able to get a warranty replacement
