Hi
just installed desktop manager and sync'd my storm via usb cable.
Laptop is connected to my storm via bluetooth but the desktop manager won't let me connect via bluetooth from the options menu All bluetooth options are greyed out....
any idea's?
Are you still connected via the USB while you are trying to sync wirelessly via Bluetooth? If so, disconnect the USB cable and close down the DM. Then fire up the DM and try again wirelessly.
Additionally, you must configure your Storm to do this. I believe it walks you through the process under the "Manage Connections" icon.
My main home computer is a MAC and I manage my phone via USB cable on a stand alone laptop PC. However, I helped a co-worker set hers up some time ago and it was rather easy. There are a few threads on here that discuss it as well.
From what I understand, the phone will sync wirelessly and update anytime it gets near your computer if its constantly running.
If this post doesn't help you resolve your issue, holla back here and Ill set mine up just to develop a path for you to walk. Try a search here on the forum as well. I recall someone discussing it and how nice it was.
Ok, I have desktop manager loaded and have successfully connected and sync'd my Storm via the usb cable.
I want to do this via bluetooth so I paired the laptop to my storm, I launched desktop manager and went to the options to change the connection type from usb to bluetooth and i can't, in the drop down box i have the connection type USB or NONE. below under bluetooth options the check boxes for bluetooth support and auto switch from bluetooth to USB when a cable is attached are greyed out so i can't select them.
So bluetooth is setup and storm is connected to laptop but desktop manager doesn't seem to want to talk to it.
This is a problem that's been well documented. And you should be able to find all kinds of information on it just by searching this forum or Google search.
This seems to be the best "How to" article out there.

It's not really a novice level fix. It requires some technical know how. The article also clearly explains the reason why it doesn't work. (It's not specific to just one type of desktop or notebook model).
