Default Headphone issues

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Guys,

I have the blackberry headphones for my bold, and it's frustrating because it works sometimes, then other times I plug it in and it doesn't.

I'm wondering if there is some sort of setup I have to do to make it work?

I'm using it right now and it's playing music for me no problem, but in an hour from now I will unplug it, then it takes a few minutes for it to start working again.

Any helpd?

thx.

when you say its not working how do you mean? I know sometimes I will plug my headphone jack in and music will play through the Bold speakers instead of the jack to my stereo.

I find that it only happens on my stereo connection. I believe it uses the ground as a connection detection. If it find a connection it switches to headphone mode. My guess is the the headphones are defective in some way. Have you tried with another set with the same issue? I know my $22 dollar ipod wannabe's work 100% of the time, it's just my 3.5mm to RCA jacks don't some times and i have to plug in and out 5-6 times before they work

I think I have found a solution to the problem, not exactly nice but it works.. I attach my Bold to my home stereo using the 3.5 MM jack to RCA and it never detects that I'm connected to headphones. So you unplug re-plug 10-20 times and eventually it detects it and pipes music out the headphone jack.

I found that after you plug your headphone jack in (make sure its all the way in) if you take the extruding part of the connector and pry up slightly so the tip is forced down toward the back of the Bold (do it very gently and don't use a lot of force) it will detect that the ear phone is connected.

It works every time for me now, even my external speakers at work did the same and now works 100% when I do that.

Seems to me that their must be a connector that just doesn't go far enough and you need to do that to get it to work. I'm wondering though by doing this if I am making the problem worse down the road or making the connector looser from the internal board.

Let me know if this works for you or not.
