Default Blackberry 8330 Curve - Time not the same in text, email or calendar

Please Login to Remove!

When I view my message list, it shows messages being sent and received at the correct, current time. When I click into the messages, however, the sent/received time is hours off! Also, my calendar appointments show as 5 hours later than it actually is. I went into the date/time option and it shows the correct time. Where else are the dates and times listed where I can change/correct this?

Check that your time zone and your device time are correct. Click on the Options icon (wrench) and then Date/Time. First correct the time zone if necessary, then the device time (which should match the network time).

I did that ... my device time is 5:32 p.m. (which is close, it's 5:31 p.m.) and my network time is 5:30 p.m. But they aren't 5 hours off from each other; only 2 minutes!

Is the timezone set to the zone you're in?

Sorry, I don't know what you mean. I just picked a time zone that has the same time as what time it is here. I'm in Wisconsin and I picked Casablanca, Monrovia, Reykjavik because that's the only one with the time showing as it is here! Should I have chosen something else?

Yes, you should pick your local time zone. I can't recall if Wisconsin is Eastern or Central, but it should be one of those two.

Wisconsin is Central time zone.

As noel said, you must use the correct time zone, especially since not all time zones follow daylight savings time. I had a user the other day who is in the Eastern time zone, but he was selecting the Bogata timezone, thinking because they are both -5 GMT it would be the same - but it wasn't. Bogata doesn't follow DST so his calendar was off.

OK, now I picked central time zone and it says it's 3:09 p.m. here. But it's not, it's 8:09 p.m. Still 5 hours off! LOL Sorry, but this is totally bewildering me.

So ... now my calendar appointments are correct, and the INSIDE of my messages is correct ... but my cell phone time display is 5 hours too early and the LIST of emails shows them arriving 5 hours too early.

It still sounds like the time is set wrong somewhere, but I could be wrong... Can you go into Date/Time and report back the values of all of the fields on that screen?

OK - here is the Date/Time screen:

(I changed it back to Casblanca time zone because I need the main screen to show me the correct time on my phone.)

Time zone: (GMT) Casablanca, Monrovia, Reykvajik) (I can't select Central because it's -5.

Time: 8:59 PM (which is the correct time)
Time Format: 12 hour
Date: Thu, Mar 19, 2009
Date/Time Source: Network

If you're in Wisconsin, then you are in the Central Time Zone -6...that means you're six hours behind GMT in London.

After you select the correct timezone "Central Time (-6)" and save the changes...I would suggest you pull the battery (leave it on and just pull the battery), wait 15 seconds and replace the battery. After the devise reboots dial *228 and press option "2" to update.

That should sync everything up, and make your Curve happy! Do let us know how it turns out!

Remember, you have to select "Central Time (-6)!

Wow, thank you SO much John! I did everything as you stated and it worked! The phone now says the correct time on the main screen, all messages are correct, and the calendar is also correct! When I first rebooted the phone, the time came up wrong (6 hours behind) but I dialed *228 and the time fixed ... I couldn't press an option "2" because there wasn't one ... there weren't any options, it just answered with some Sprint standard message. But dialing *228 did it ... what is that?

It sends some kinda of updated roaming data to your phone. You should dial *228 every month or so...

Glad it worked. *228 is an over-the-air devise program and roam update feature. It basically re-syncs your phone with the network...

It did not work for me for some reason. When I dial *228 I get the network error message that I need to check the number and dial again.

My provider is Tmobile. Any idea what I can do?

Thank you

Well, 228 would appaer to be for sprint network.
perhaps t-mobile don't have that feature/use a different number.
