Hello,

I haunt these forums probably more then I should and waste a lot more time then I should as well. I consider it one of the best communities around.

That being said, I dont know where to put this question. Probably doesnt even belong on this site.

Here is the question.

I have recently purchased a laptop with a 120gb drive in it. The drive is a 1.8 drive. From what I can tell it is next to impossible to find a drive any bigger then 120 that has a fast enough rpm.

So I have looked to alternatives to my ever increasing need for more room and I came to an idea...

Is it possible to make a hard drive out of SD cards and have them connect through your expresscard port on a laptop? SD cards are practically a dime a dozen and relative read rates are fast enough for stuff I just need to store on the drive...I.E. pictures and music.

Does anyone know of a device that you can stick a couple SD cards in and then slide it into a express card slot?

Nope. Nice idea, but it doesn't work like that. Toshiba makes a 250 GB 1.8 in drive. Tech Ticker | Toshiba makes 1.8-inch 250GB SATA Drive

You should also look into SSD'd Solid State Drives. They are a bit pricey right now, but are coming down, US$500 for a 256 GB SSD.

Do a search on Google and see what you find.
