Default BB 8310 stuck on loading system software

So here's the run down..My friend gave me his phone it said it stopped working all of the sudden, when he turned it on it just started flickering the red light over and over. I read around on the forum and downloaded the JL_Cmder. It wouldn't detect the BB so I tried the other way where you get it install using the command prompt and AppLoader. I could get it to recognize but it would get stuck on the loading jvm and software. I tried that like 3x then gave up. Now my computer detects the blackberry is plugged in and I tried to go through desktop manager since now it will detect it, and still the same thing. It gets stuck on the loading the os part. I've made sure the vendor.xml file wasn't in (even though I dont think it matters because I'm using os from blackberry site). I'm really stuck on what to do now, is there nething different I can do since my blackberry is actually being detected by my computer?

Wirelessly posted (8100™)

First use again JLcmder and wipe handheld.

Then try to go on apploader folder on your pc, delete vendor and double click on loader file.

Are you using Vista? I've had sketchy connectivity with AppLoader / Desktop Manager / et al with Vista. Now I just use my WinXP laptop.

Try to seek for it's warranty. It could be a board problem.

I've also encountered the same problem and luckily our service provider was able to resolve the problem.

I'm using Windows XP, and JLCmder wont detect it, but my computer will. I'm starting to think its something else like a board problem which is mentioned above. I've tried downloading new versions of OS, deleting reinstalling them, Downloaded older versions of desktop manager, and older os, and still the same problem. I'm making sure I'm deleting the Vendor.xml, I'm even searching my computer to make sure its not there, disabling auto-updates, and disconnecting the internet when I install it. I'm out of ideas. I'm thinking its toast. :(

If it is a board problem, would it be under warranty? It's a phone that my friend has had for awhile.
