Default Cool new features of the 8700/4.1 OS

Please Login to Remove!

This is a thread where people can post the interesting features they discover regarding the new device.

I've found a bunch of really interesting things so far, but the two I just discovered are Call Notes, and Call History.

It always frustrated me that I couldn't see how many times a person had called in a row, or when they had last called me. Well now all you have to do is Thumb Wheel click when on the Call Log screen and select Vew History.

The other thing is in-call notes. During an active call click in the thumb wheel and select notes. To review the notes later, just select the Call History mentioned above.

(p.s. Does anyone know if there is a shortcut for mute on the 8700? On my 7100 its the ! key)

Wirelessly posted (8700c: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

Mute button is on the top right side of your 8700.

Hope this helps.

I believe these features have always been available...they certainly are on my 7290, and were on my old 7100t

One major thing that I could see in 4.1 OS is the when I compose the email it will show the address book entries in dropdown and that has been very handy otherwsie I used to click on the wheel and then select Add To or CC.
Otherwise all of the above mentioned features were always available.

bigred, the call history has been available albeit not with the same key stroke. In 4.0 you could go to your messages list and press alt+P which would bring up you phone logs and show you all the details of your calls. The notes capabilities have always been there too but my only beef with them is that when you add a note to a call, you can't visibly tell that you have entered a note later when you go back to look at your logs. There should be some sort of little paper clip on the phone log that has notes. This is a cool thread though. Lets see just how many new nuances RIM has added.

Question Delivery Reports ? ? ?

User guide mentions delivery reports for SMS messages, but my SMS Options screen just doesn't have the option listed. I have no data plan and this may be the issue, but SMS works fine.

Any thoughts? Anybody got this working?

It sure is, the snooze is very useful.

Another cool feature is per caller definable ring-tones. ;)

Also its cool that you can just start typing in the To field and it shows you the address that fit.

Also its a nice little feature that it automatically puts in a second To field, and keeps adding extra ones as you fill them up.
