I've had my Pearl with Alltel for about a year. I have used BB Messenger frequently with no problems.

However, I just started working with a new company, and they added IT security policy settings on my Pearl. Besides making it extremely slow, now my BB messenger screws up. I can be texting someone, and all of a sudden they don't get delivered. I pull my battery, and when i go back into BB messenger, it says I have switched devices and need to notify my contacts.

Is there a way to fix this? I end up having to pull the battery almost every day.

I think before they stop sending it usually says "policy settings have changed". Thanks so much!

That article is for BES Administrators, not end users.

@Jreneking - has anything else changed on your device, like an upgrade of the OS?

raja, you are going to get the OP fired for doing that.

Removing the IT Policy from a corporate device is NEVER a good idea. As long as the device is connected to a corporate BES, the IT Policy will be pushed right back down to the device anyway. Removing the policy is a fruitless waste of time.

I agree it would be reckless to remove an IT policy from a company device.. but here the condition is little different.. the device is actually owned by "Jreneking"

Agreed. Companies are lookign for reasons to release staff. This is just one more reson. IT Policies are there for a reason.

My advice is that if it is your personal device, don't put it on the corporate BES. If they want you to have email, let then get you a device, let them pay the freight, don't use your own

As a rule, we don't recommend (even as an option) that end-users remove corporate pushed IT Policies from their devices, even if it is their own device.

They should speak with their BES Admin. That is their option.

I agree with Juwaack. It's fruitless to remove the policy. Once removed the device is no longer connected to the BES. When you reconnect it will push the policy back, anyway. Also, you will have to explain why you needed another Enterprise Activation.

Are you sure this is attributed to the new IT policy? have you talked to your IT department about it?

I agree as well. Juwaack is a BES admin as am I. I think we take a different stance on this subject than most end users. Regardless if the device is it OP's personal device or if it's a corporate device, the IT policy is there for a reason. That's the risk you take when you want to put a personal device on a corporate server. This is a big reason a lot of companies don't allow personal devices on their servers.

Thank you all so much for your replies. It sounds like the problem IS the BES IT policy. I just talked to my technical support and he agreed. Problem is, I can't take off my IT security policy if i want to receive the emails. As someone else suggested, I can get another new blackberry, but unfortunately, I don't want to spend the money for a new one.

I was hoping that BB Messenger would continue to work with these policies, but I guess that is not the case.

And to answer the question from juwaack68, no, I have not recently upgraded the OS.

I guess I'll just have to learn to stop using BB Messenger. It was such an easy way to communicate and send pictures!

I fee for ya. I would suffer withdrawls if BB Messenger were blocked. Personally, I'd buy a second BB just for that.

I also just wanted to make another point. I do hate these security policies, but I understand why they are there.

I receive sensitive information for my company on my device, and if it landed in the wrong hands, it might cause problems. Therefore, they have a policy that will remotely wipe my entire device if it's lost or stolen. Likewise, if I am terminated or leave the company, they wipe it within 30 days. Interesting since it's my OWN device that I purchased, but you have to agree to that to send/receive emails on it.

I am seriously considering removing the entire IT policy and no longer receiving company emails on my blackberry. I am, however, addicted to being able to just pick it up and check my work calendar and emails no matter where I am. That will be hard to break. I guess if they want me to be available bad enough, they can buy me a blackberry.

I have a friend whose business (one of the large national banks) was just purchased (taken over by) another of the large national banks. On Monday of last week they took up all company issued BlackBerry by the old company, and told the users to get their own BB device, contract and pay for the BES account, and the new company will provide the BES administration.

With the new IT Policy, his BBMessenger and SMS are both disabled. Even thought it is his device, his account, his $$s, IF he wants it connected to the BES, he must follow their rules.

My comapny is the same. I pay a discounted price for the device and the service, but BES truly owns the content. Fortunately, they have been pretty liberal (lately anyhow) with what they allow.
