Default BES 4.1.3 to 4.1.6

Please Login to Remove!

Hello-

I'm about to upgrade a BES (Exchange integration) from 4.1.3 to 4.1.6 with all post-SP6 security rollups.

Are there any user-facing changes that need to be communicated to users prior to the upgrade? Any significant changes in the user experience from the BlackBerry devices?

Thanks...
Bill

I recently did a 4.1.4 MR-2 to 4.1.6 MR-4 upgrade (then to MR-5, when it was released). We're a IBM Lotus Domino environment so we're not apples to apples. There were a number of fixes around about 4.1.5 that corrected bugs with the calendar and other odds 'n ends. I believe devices that were at Handheld O/S 4.5 saw better Rich Content E-Mail support when we installed 4.1.6 on the server. I don't recall any gotchas (i.e., devices undergoing activation a 2nd time, etc).

For the most part I don't think the users noticed any difference from our upgrade to 4.1.6.

Thanks for your insights! That's definitely a big help.

Best,

I was going to upgrade from 4.1.3 to 5.0 but decided to go to 4.1.6 first and then 5.0 at a later date.

I have two files downloaded. Both are the same size (313MB). One is named besx_4.1.6.exe and the other besx_upgrader_4.1.6.exe. Which of those 2 is the correct one to use for the upgrade?

Thanks

I can't remember the difference but I know "upgrader" is the one listed on the downloads page and I got non-"upgrader" from the trial link, so I would stick with what's posted on the downloads page i.e. upgrader.

Supposedly before 4.1.5 there was nothing an admin could do about a lost password (assuming Content Protection was enabled on the device).

Speaking of user facing changes, the ability to open Office 2007 docs appeared in 4.1.4.

I went from 4.1.4 to 4.1.6. I wish I had read the Release Notes for 4.1.5 as well as 4.1.6 to get up to speed on all the rolled up fixes.
