I sent an email to Nextel asking about this last night. I'll post when I get a response.

Update: This is the response I got from Sprint/Nextel regarding my question: When will Nextel adopt the same BIS as T-mobile?

"My name is Marshall and I am with Sprint together with Nextel Online
Support. Currently Nextel does have the same BIS as T-Mobile, since the
BIS is provided by RIM, but separate carriers only have access to their
own BIS accounts. If you have any further questions, please feel free
to reply to this email or you can call 800-639-6111 for immediate
assistance."

What the heck does that mean? I can agree that the BIS is a RIM app, but having access to different carriers is BS. Each carrier can upgrade their BIS release if/when they want to. Unless T-MO has an exclusive to utilize this version of the BIS.

That's pretty much what I told them as well. Awaiting a response.

From tech support:

"Because I am with Sprint together with Nextel technical support, I am
unable to provide you with information concerning other carriers'
BlackBerry Internet Email Service (BIS). I apologize for any
inconvenience this may cause. However, I would be more than happy to
provide you with any information you desire on Sprint-Nextel's BIS
service as well as troubleshooting and technical support for any Nextel
BlackBerry-related technical or functional issue.

"At this time, I have not been made aware of any plans to change the
BlackBerry Internet Email Service that is provided by Sprint together
with Nextel.

So it's not possible to create emails using alternate accounts such as your ISP account, GMail, etc., using the BB?
