I am guessing the battery issue is next. What I like about uber over Social Scope is that it seems to transmit my tweets faster

BIS-B is a biggie... he tweeted last night that he got the necessary info and successfully tested the app with BIS-B.

Battery life is a key issue, as akosinsky said.

Since some of the other apps are adding features like direct support for various photo services (beyond twitpic), I expect some additions here, as well.

Will BIS help with battery life?

New beta (2.1) coming shortly. Change log:

ÜberTwitter Beta-2.1 is being readied for release this Friday, May 15
Wed, 05/13/2009 - 09:03 — CodeWarden

ÜberTwitter Beta-2.1 is being readied for release this Friday (May 15). The big thing in this release is support for BIS-B which will allow many more BlackBerry owners to become Über users! We promised you that as soon as we received BIS-B confirmation from RIM we would put a release out, and so we will! In addition to BIS-B, we are releasing a number of bug fixes and a few new features.

Below is the list of features and bug fixes included in this release:

* Support for yfrog.com images in preview/view
* Does not merge mentions into your main timeline anymore, this was causing folks to easily hit the rate limit
* Moved @replies and Direct Messages To You menu items up towards the top
* Fixed bug when trying to follow people from any of the search timelines
* Small avatars should work fine now, when you change it automatically changes your timeline, flushes cache, etc.
* Added option to NOT use BB sound/vib notifications - some models are almost impossible to figure out how to change
* Added 'Send to UberTwitter' item to BB OS versions below 4.6 when viewing picts/videos
* Avatars weren't being scaled correctly, causing issues on some devices
* ReTweets were setting the 'reply-to-id', which would cause it to be treated like a reply, which did not allow some users to view the tweet
* Changed fonts on status update screen to be consistent
* When pict/vid is added to tweet, subtract correct number of characters to account for URL, making the character count more accurate
* Fixed bug where uncaught exception could occur if you clicked an '@user' in another bb app and ÜberTwitter wasn't already running
* Fixed bug where some failures to retrieve avatars could result in 'spinning arrows' and a huge battery drain.

from ÃœberTwitter Beta-2.1 is being readied for release this Friday, May 15 | ÃœberTwitter

BIS-B is where the data goes through the BIS data tunnel, thats the tunnel email, BBM etc go through. Some carriers block APN connections, therefore some people need the BIS-B connection to be able to use it

It's needed for UberTwitter, which doesn't work without the APN set, unless beta 3 has been released.

I'm not sure what your problem/attitude is with BIS usage in this thread, but take my word for it, for me, and everyone if you believe UberTwitter's own feature list, UberTwitter does not work for BIS-only users without an APN set.

attitude what the heck are you talking about i havent had any attitude. I used uber just fine and I am only using BIS So take it from me, APNS dont have to be set. So you are the one giving attitude now.

Just so I can prove my point how many of you are BES and how many have set up APN to use this product and how many just installed it and it worked with out setting up any connection.

So for many of us having this BIS improvement is inconsequential.

If UberTwitter works fine without BIS-B, why are UberTwitter adding it?

Just because you haven't explicitly set the APN doesn't mean it wasn't already.

Okay I am still confused. If we are getting it now, then the BIS feature will NOT make a difference?

Thats what I and others were asking before you singled me out as having attitude.

I still havent figured out where this came from. But since you seem to know so much please explain how Uber set up the APN for me and others. Just how was it working on BIS?

For those on BIS that DO have Uber working, I don't think Uber added the APN, I think it was probably there already.

Try: Options -> Advanced Options -> TCP

If you've got those fields set, Uber will work, even with BIS. However for some carriers bear in mind they could charge you extra (O2 UK as an example).

This will all be academic when UberTwitter release beta 3 (today I believe), which should have BIS-B support.

I dont see TCP in advanced options.

This might help: http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Carrier_specific_APN/TCP_settings
