Options, advanced, wireless upgrade. Is that enabled?
If not, no.

Yes, it is. Only if you're on AT&T's .167.

the wireless upgrade option will only upgrade to the latest OS from your CARRIER.
It will not update to the actual latest from other carriers.

How do you get the wireless upgrade enabled? Is there something that I can do to have this option show up on my phone??

Possibly. Most of us won't find out but AT&T will push an upgrade to all Bold's (not the 8900's) this coming Friday. Just an upgrade to .247, which is just fine. I was on .247 for a good while, and finally went to .266. ;)

Wirelessly posted (9000 (Bold))

I don't know why they bother with that option because it never works (well Rogers doesn't update their firmware past 167)

That's good to know. I tried .266 and had some hissing on voice calls. Maybe AT&T's version will be better?

Just curious, is there anything behind the 802.11n in your sig? Or just happy to be using it?

Did this push happen for anybody? Didn't happen in my neck of the woods.

No OTA update for Bold on mine here in Atlanta, GA...

If I had manually updated from .167 to .190, would AT&T block the update not recognizing the .190 as legit?

TIA

Yes, it will be blocked.
You can only do OTA updates when your device is currently running a previous version of that carrier's released and approved handheld code.

When I went to Options>Advanced Options> Wireless Upgrade last night it said an upgrade was available and began updating. Took about an hour. On About it shows: v4.6.0.167(Platform 4.0.0.217).

It doesn't work like that. Carriers only approve an OS release, so the .266 you tried earlier would be the same one that AT&T could approve. Therefore, nothing would be different.

I just checked the AT&T page on blackberry.com, but the old OS (.167) is the only one listed. Doesn't appear that a new one is available.

That's version .167, the original OS approved by AT&T. Nothing new.

Then that was weird last night when it showed an available Upgrade. I wonder what was up with that?

Not sure. I have never tried the OTA upgrade as I keep my phone current with the latest approved OS (from any carrier).

That is strange. Not sure why it would even bother to do anything if the version number is the same.
