Default Keyboard lag...

Please Login to Remove!

Is anyone getting the keyboard lag when you type? I am referring to the full keyboard when you tilt the Storm sideways. I will be typing, then it will freeze for about 3-5 seconds and then the letters I typed will show. Any way to fix this?

Sounds like a processing issue, maybe your having some memory issues. Have you tried a battery pull and then test to see the difference in performance of the typing just after the battery pull and maybe say 30-45 minutes after?

You are asking a Storm user if they do a battery pull? LOL Oh yeah, I do those daily it seems. The last time I did a battery pull was about um... oh, about 6 hours ago. It seems to lag every time I respond to email, text, etc. My file free memory is 21MB.

Wow, that's bad, have you considered upgrading the os if you're not at the latest version for the storm?

Yes I have 148. Didn't have this issue with 75. I am thinking of downgrading!

Yikes. I have never had to do a pull with 141.

Well this is 148 not 141. I am hoping that they will finally create an OS that is as stable as the iphone. My brother in law has never told me he had to reset, restore, or do anything to his device. And he has like a ton of apps on his iphone. No closing down apps, they close whenever you press the button at the bottom. Wish BB would add that option.

I've been struggling with this problem and *may* have a cause. When I open several apps, I usually click the back button to go back to the Home Screen, instead of closing the app when I was done. Having enough apps open cause all sorts of sluggish behavior.

In case you are not away, if you hold the Blackberry button down it will show you what apps you have running actively.

Hopefully, this will help some.

Thank you for your help andrwetn. Actually I don't have any apps open at the time. Everything is shut down. I always close each app since RIM couldn't use their head and add the feature like iphone where there is no need to close the apps. They close when you press the button at the bottom. Hopefully RIM is in development of this feature, but I am not holding my breath.

The feature you describe for the iphone is actually a limitation with the iphone. It can't multitask so it closes each app when you exit.

Did you ever tried to set keyboard setting. If not try the followings:

Go to Options >> Screen/Keyboard settings, scroll down to the screen you will se touchscreen settings. Choose tap interval as 100, Hover Period as 1000 and Swipe sensitivity as 6. After you set the touchscreen try to write and tell us the results.

Yes I did. Even swapped out my Storm for a new one and still there is a little lag... I will just deal with it... Storm can't be as smooth as the iphone... oh well.

I've been noticing the same keyboard lag recently too. Before, that was usually a tip off that I needed to do a battery pull and free up some memory, but now at least half the times that it happens, my available memory is still relatively high. The issue comes and goes at random, and that hasn't made it very easy to identify the cause. :\
