Default OS: 8700 4.5.0.255/4.5.0.162 (EastAsia + English)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.255 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 4.5.0.255
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.162
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.103
* File name: 8700EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel255_PL2.7.0.103_A4.5.0.16 2_Vodafone_Essar_Limited__for_Hutch_Essar_devices_ .exe
* File size: 75.92MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...DF29596708C94B

Instructions for installing on ANY 8700 (regardless of carrier)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."

If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Thanks for this.. Installing now.

Just curious.. Whats the PL version for? I know its Software Platform but this looks older PL.. My old ones filename says

OLD FILE - PBr 4.5.0 rel 246 - PL 2.7.0.105 - A 4.5.0.153
NEW FILE -PBR 4.5.0 rel 255 - PL 2.7.0.103 - A 4.5.0.162

Update: Desktop manager and AppLoader both say this version is older than what I have installed.. Anyone else install this to see if there is any difference from the last release or if i sould wait for the next release?

Default Need Help - 8700 Upgrade to 4.5 - Device Installation Failed

After downloading the 8700 4.5 device software, and running the application loader, the installation process appeared to be working, but towards the end, the device could not be detected, the screen went completely blank and the LED occasionally blinked a long red. I called AT&T Tech Support. They walked me through the same process to load the software, but again towards the end of the installation process, the same result: a blank screen. Any ideas how to fix? Otherwise, I'm told to purchase a replacement.

The operating system should not interfere with any network provisioned services (including data services), this is controlled via the carrier and not via the phone's operating system.

With regards to MP3 music, you should be able to play MP3s I believe however, the 8700 does not have a memory card slot so storing MP3s within it's internal memory will quickly fill the memory of the device and may lead to the device deleting messages or calendar entries.

Thanks,
--Phil

Default Russian Language Support in the package

Do you know by any chance if this ver. contains support for Russian Language? Currently I am running 4.5.0.110 from T-Mob (EU) and it has it.

Thank you.

Default Question

I have an official BB device (8700g) and 'officially' i am not supposed to make changes to the device. But the OS is old and does not support FB / Gmail / Yahoo... basically anything good.

What are the chances of the following method of upgrading the os 'unofficially' and then screwing up the device resulting in the device being sent to IT?

really appreciate your response on whether i should go ahead with the upgrade or not?

Does this fix the false reporting of the battery level? That is, will it report an accurate battery charge, or will your Blackberry suddenly stop working even tho it says it has a 100% charge, as was reported with the last OS?

I have a BB 8700r and I went through the proper bb/rogers download page and they only offer 4.2 but I can see 4.5 offered by other providers.

Can I install a v4.5 that is offered lets say by ATT?

I need v4.5 because there are some applications that we need, but are only offered on 4.5
