Default Good Procedure?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all I am new to this site and the world of Blackberries.

I jsut got my pearl flip 8220 from Tmobile and I want to update it to the newest OS, could you tell me if there is anything wrong with my procedure.

Installed Desktop Manager 5.0 from RIM site.
Installed the 4.6.0.278 OS from the sticky.
Deleted the vendor.xml file.
(not sure) Also deleted net_rim_tmo_five.cod file because I'm on tmobile and dont use myfaves.

Please let me know if there is anything wrong with this procedure.

The only thing wrong is you need to wait before you try to fix the phone. You might find that it isn't broken.

If you are new to BBs, then use the device for a few weeks. See what it can and cannot do. Set it up to work the way you need and want it to work. You may find there is no need to upgrade. Most upgrades, other than the big numbers (4.0. 4.5, 5.0, etc.) are only minor fixes anyway and you run the risk of turning the device into an expensive paper weight.

I am probably in the minority on this forum about upgrading the OS, but firmly believe there is no real reason to do so, unless the device really needs it.
