Question Enterprise Activation

Please Login to Remove!

Ever since we upgraded to BES 4.0 sp3 whenever I try do do a wireless activation I have to wipe the device clean before it will go through. Has any one run across this issue?

Default - security wipe -

TSupport has a term for device clean - security wipe - if the handheld you are going to activate is not a new one, it is better to do this before EA.

its the 7105t that was realeased about a month ago its full updated with the version before the 4.1 which is the newest one technically.......

now if this ever happens to anyone just go into secrutiy books and delete the one that says provisioning and the enterprise activation will appear on the home screen and the options menu.

we tried that, and have no icon for Enterprise activation....acutally, the provisioning was already deleted, we tried undeleting it.....and then deleting it again and that wasn't an option....and still no icon....
any ideas, anyone?

Do you have Tmobile? if so, make sure your account is provisioned for enterprise access. Otherwise, the icon will delete as soon as the device gets its service books (i.e. registers)

AHH, that may be the issue...we do have Tmobile, this is a user that just joined the company and brought his own, already running BB to us...I'll have to check about the enterprise access for it - THANKS!

T-mobile is awful in the fact you have to tell them you are using a BES and they will make you pay an extra 10.00us a month to use your own bes.

Awfull I know,.... thats why I am in transistion for my company to Cingular.

hmm, my t-mobile rep says the number is provisioned for that, my user has the desktop manager installed, is that the reason I'm not getting the EA icon? I'm still not finding it?
do I have to reinstall the desktop manager with BES access??
I can't wipe the handheld though....

thanks

You don't need the EA icon. You should be able to go into Options and then find Enterprise Activation there.

Thats your problem.. his device had been enterprise activated before. If you have a 4.x device that was activated on a BES server and you switch servers, you will ALWAYS need to wipe the device and reload. Thats the way it works on BES, even when I move my users to 4.1.

That will not prevent the Enterprise Activation option from being present. It will cause the Activation to fail if the Servers use a separate SQL Database.

Like it was said previously look under options (think the 7100 has tools then options) and go into enteroprise activation.

My problems with EA and t-mobile were on 7230's. I actually had to call t-mobile support and MAKE them call RIM to get the PIN and IMEI of the 7230 released. Untill they did that the EA would just sit at the activating screen and would time out after about 45 mins.

Just make sure when you call t-mobile that you verify you are paying the extra 9.99US$ a month on that line. Yes they make you pay to use your own BES server.
