Default Forum APP for BB - vbulletin

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings!

Avid BB user and forum admin, I started getting tired of having to use the browser to read my own forum and reply to my own PMs.

So a server side tomcat module was written to connect my mysql with the blackberry device. Read/reply to PMs, threads, upload pics directly etc

Once the bb version is working I will think about doing an iphone version.

My demo right now just connects the database with no password protection. Getting the encryption working, you have to use the same method of encryption so it is going to take a good amount of time.

If someone wants to try the demo at K20A

This seems like the short of app that each invidual vbulletin admin would have to custom code for their own version of vbulletin etc..

I appreciate any thoughts on my first blackberry app.

Maybe I need to wait till it is finished? lol

Maybe this is the short of application that will excite iphone users only :p

I am going to take a look at most "wanted", unwritten application" thread in this forum and see if there is an application I can write for you at no charge.

Moderators, feel free to PM me if you think that I should not be posting here.

This sounds like a good idea, especially if it has functionality that is lacking in wap versions of vBulletin.

I can now read PMs on the app. Still have a lot of work to do but I believe that you get the idea what I want it to do.

I want to be able to reply to PMs from vbulletin forums as fast as txting someone.

I want to be able to upload photos and videos from my phone directly to a vb thread or blog.

The PM reply and send feature is complete now. I can reply to messages and send new messages. On the actual website, the sent message will be in SENT folder and the little icon next to the new message has the reply icon so that you will be able to know to which messages you replied. Email notification will come once password authentication is finished.

Some shots to get an idea how it looks and works on my phone.

Instead of replying I can also send a PM as long as I can remember how to spell the user name I am trying to contact. Address book drop down menus will not comes for a long long time. With the new VB4 out and all these different programming platforms for cellphones, there is no point getting the app written for a vbulletin version that will be outdated soon. Hopefully timing will be right and I will have enough time to develop the app for the next vbulletin version that is being tested right now.

ok new features added

From the top menu once you log in, you will be able to click on forums

Then you have a choice to make a thread, search or just browse the forums and reply to individual threads.

Clicking on the NEW THREAD choice

Now you have to select which forum do you want the thread posted

when you click the forum option a list will display all available forums

In this example, I click on PARTS WANTED forum and type the details of what I need.

Left click post and back to work! lol

Does this forum use vbulletin? (I was thinking Phpbb?). Fingers crossed for vbulletin if this guy releases this app.

Next to a decent RSS reader... this is my most unanticpated but would love to have... !

Be great if they could make one for phpbb format as well.

fyi the redirect isn't working AND there is a free version.
(that's the url that works)
vBulletin BlackBerry App | BerryBlab.com

Didn't work on a 4.6 9000 or a 5.0 9700.

project is not finished yet, it is only for vbulletin

Pick browse forums

pick the forum you want to browse

pick the thread you want to read

read the most recent post on that thread

As you can see newer posts list first on the thread, so the project is moving on forward. replying to thread and uploading is next along with search option
