Default Software Update Cancellation

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 with Sprint. I have the Blackberry Desktop Manager installed on my desktop PC and on my laptop. I recently updated the software on my Blackberry from the Desktop Manager on my desktop PC. However, every time I connect my Blackberry to the Desktop Manager on my laptop I am asked to update the software on my Blackberry, which I cancel before syncing my organizer data. It appears that the Desktop Manager on my laptop doesn’t recognize that the software on my Blackberry has already been updated.

What can I do to eliminate the notice to upgrade in the Desktop Manager on my laptop?

Thank you for your assistance.

If it were me, I would go ahead and click "yes" or "install" or whatever instead of cancel. I suspect DM will "see" the installation is up to date and clear a flag. At any rate, I don't think you will do any harm if you don't cancel. But see what others say.

Sounds to me the 0xpin.xml file under loader history should be deleted so when the unit is reconnected, it can re-grab what's on the unit and not compare it to the history file on the laptop. Not definite about it but worth a try.

In XP go to:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Research In Motion\Blackberry\Loader History\

Delete the 0xpinnumber.xml file.

I had the same problem between two computers a month or so ago and simply did what aiharkness suggested. DM recognized that the BB didn't need updating and never bothered me about it again.

Now that you mention it, I believe that's how I encountered the issue. I knew I had seen it, but didn't remember how when I posted above.
