Default OS issues and more

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Storm 9550 from Verizon unlocked for Rogers. When I got the phone I went to manage connections and there was no wifi? I thought it may be a OS issue so I updated and there was no change. Then I wiped and have run into issue reloading or updated the OS. I get the 507 error message. I tried all the "nuked" methods but when I go to put the new OS on it says it is an older version than what I have. Should it say that if it's wiped? Then I get a message that says the OS is not compatible with my unit? Any suggestions would be great...thx!

Are you sure its a 9550, and not a 9530 (as stated in your profile?)

Yes...I am upgrading to the 9550 and trying to get it set up like the 9530. I haven't changed my profile yet...

Ok, the fact there was no wi-fi, suggests it isn't a 9550.
What version Os is currently installed, and which Os are you trying to load.

There in lies the issue. I wiped it without actually knowing what OS was on it. Now when I try to update it says the OS is an older version...but its wiped?

What i would suggest is using BBSAK and wiping the phone again. With the OS installed on your PC, make sure the vendor.xml is deleted and load the OS via BBSAK.

I just tried BBSAK and got the same message as with JML CMNDER. The message says "This system software is not designed for the connected device [A:0x00000043]" I'm trying to load 5.0.0.320 platform 4.2.0.124. I tried 287 as well and got the same message?

Billy, please remove the battery on the device and look ON the white sticker underneath... what is the model number stated there?

Post it here.

Now, what is the EXACT file name of the OS you have downloaded and installed to your PC?

The full *.exe filename, please post it here:

There isn't a model number on the sticker just PRD-17740 and ASY-23768?
I think the exe is 2729C5D9.pf. Is that right? If not how do I find the exe file name?

Thx!

The .exe file name, is the name of the file. What it saved it as.
my_cv.doc, final countdown.mp3 etc.

That error normally means that you need to try a different REAR USB port. No USB hubs or front PC ports.

Where did you download the OS from?
Try downloading it from the stickied thread in THIS forum.

I downloaded it from Rapidshare.
Ok I have the file from this site. Should I remove the vendor.xml before installing it?
