Exclamation TCP/IP stack enabled on the Bell Mobility 7130e?

Please Login to Remove!

I was in a bell store today looking at the 7130e because I'm thinking of going to it from my 7250 and ditching my Kyocera Slider so that I'll only have to carry one device.

I was playing with a live 7130e and I was looking at the options screen. I saw an interesting section called Application Options. In there was a setting for user data connections and it was enabled!

Could this mean that we can use any application on the 7130e that requires access to the internet as opposed to not being able to because of the disabled TCP/IP stack on the 7250?

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

thanks

I have a 7130e on Verizon here in the US. I have both Hello World and World Cam loaded and they work fine.

hi cody - Verizon has enabled the TCP/IP stack on the 7250 and obviously again on the 7130e. Bell Mobility up here in Canada disabled the stack on the 7250 and we weren't able to use any 3rd party applications that required internet access to work. I think it's different with the 7130 but i'm not sure so i'm asking here

If the device is connected to BES, yes. If your planning on being a Bell or Telus BIS customer then no. The device you tested was probably connected via BES.

nope - this 7130e hadn't been activated because it said on the top - ACTIVATION REQUIRED.

The answer is NO. You would have to be on a BES server.

There it is, right from the horses mouth. Bell and Telus require BES for use of third party apps.
