So I'm looking at making the jump from ATT to VZ (anyone want a couple used Bolds?..love 'em, but the network quality is killing me...), and debating Tour now versus waiting a little longer for Tour2. Leaning towards waiting.
The wifi is a nice to have..but from what I read here re the trackball, sounds like optical is worth the wait.
What BB devices are already using an "optical" trackball?

The Tour 2 seems very close to the 9700. I used the 9700 yesterday and it seemed to me it was merely a Tour with a Trackpad

Should be identical to the Tour 1 in external dimensions.

I'm eligible for a full upgrade with Sprint in 2 weeks... I wish the 9650 was out now. Verizon and AT&T are total ripoffs. My plan with Sprint is $170/month before discounts, the closest (but inferior in a big way) Verizon plan to that is $260/month. Get real!

That should probably be a clue as to how soon it's NOT going to be.
I'm waiting too. Probably going to swap the Droid for the Tour 2. Just glad I'm not on a timeline.

I use 4 lines. With Sprint's Everything data plan I can run 4 Tours if I wanted to... no extra charges. Their customer service is far from perfect, but I get the best bang for my buck from them.

Yeah, you can knock another 2 weeks off your renewal date if you call them, so with my March 1 date I'm in the window now. I'm gonna hold out until March 1 though to see what's up with the Tour 2, but if no new word comes out, I'll just get a no-camera 9630, and 8530 for the wife and a couple of Rumor2's for the rugrats.

I have a feeling the Tour 2 is just around the corner. I would wait at least until Verizon or Sprint releases the Tour 2. I hate signing contacts for a phone that has a new model within weeks.

Patiently waiting on the tour 2. My 8320 has led a good life but is dying a slow death and my boss owes me a phone since the prick stopped paying my phone bill. Hopefully soon don't know how much longer my 8320 will make it

Yeah, you're right, and I probably will wait. I'm using a Palm Centro now so all is not lost. This is just going to be a test of my patience...

Tour 9630 and Storm 9550 is. Can't imagine that the 9650 would not be, especially as an upgrade to the 9630.

Agreed. I've had all of the Tier 1 carriers at one point or another. Sprint is by far the best with pricing on family plans.
I've got 3 lines on the Family Data Share 1500. Unlimited data, text, messaging, Any Mobile Anytime, and after my discount and recurring credit I pay $78/month. Most of my calls are to other mobiles so the allotment of 1500 minutes is still overkill for us.

For those of you who are mad about this... did you assume the Tour was going to be the end all be all last blackberry ever made? Just in case many of you haven't figured it out yet... When RIM and Verizon release the Tour2/Bold or what ever they call it, it is very possible that they will release another newer blackberry within 6 months to a year of it coming out. If you don't like this, then wait until that one comes out. And while you are constantly in a "waiting for the *insert latest rumored blackberry device* to come out" mode, I will be taking advantage of what is currently available on the market to accomplish my mobile needs. And when they come out with something newer/better, I will not complain about it. I will wait for my contract's renewal time and buy it or if i need it that bad, I will find a way to get it. It's called normal evolution of technology.
