I know this started over a month ago, but i just found it last night and upgraded. It seems to be running ok for me, a little slow at times but i like the new features. I however did lose my Livesearch that i had on my phone for quite some time despite them trying to change over to Bing. Now i figured i had no option but to use Bing and am having issues with it. I was able to download the program but when i try to launch it, it goes to an all black screen and i can't do anyhting on it, except hit the end call button to return to the main screen. The program seems to not want to load at all. Any ideas? May it be that Bing downloader is picking up an 8330 and those "don't run on 5.0..."?

Default Lost my Browser

I have a sprint 8330. Did the update, and now my browser is gone. Everything else so far is working okay.

If I hit the alt+back button, I see the browser icon on the task bar, but when I select it it get the following error message
"Your device does not currently have any Browser Configuration Service Book entries. Please contact your serivce provider to enable the browser on your device."

I went to advance options and sent service books, got an message stating my device was successfully registered on the network, however no browser. I also called sprint and they re-provisioned the phone but still no browser. Pulled the battery to no avail, Any other ideas?

Are you using a third party theme? If yes try using one of the default themes.

The memory leak is too big for me. I'm going back to the previous version right now.

Is this why the phone reboots for no reason?

Angry Do not like 5.0

Hey all, I too just saw this and updated my phone a few days ago and i regret it so much!!

To start, it is SO SLOW.. and the phone just shuts off randomly and its very annoying.. it doesnt ring all time either..it deleted my BBM and I had to dl it from blackberry.com and re do all my contacts.. when im on the phone it now sounds like crap, like talking in a tin can and random beeps with nothing coming through (emails, bbms, texts call waiting)

I tried to go back to the 4.5 I had before but the app loader would say something about downgrading my phone and when i clicked OK it went through the whole thing for about 45 mins and it was still 5.0

While features are cool its not really worth it.. i am going to go in and delete some things I dont use but seems stupid to have to do that..

just waiting for the new Tour 2 to come out....

Default Verizon?

Has anyone had success upgrading a 8330 that has Verizon service? The only reason I am looking for this upgrade is so I can use XM for Blackberry - any feedback on that app?

Wirelessly posted

I loaded it on my wife's. Works great but the phone starts with about 13MB memory and leaks fast from there. Sucks to be her. ;)

I have an alltel branded device being used on the VZW network. I am having some browsing issues, but otherwise pretty pleased with the upgrade.

Installed flawlessly on a cricKet flashed 8330, i had to use JL_Cmder to wipe os off completely, then used loader.exe to load 5.0 os, with the vendor.xml deleted. It took a long time to load but was defiantly worth it, the threaded texts are great and browser looks much better, media has a better layout as well. Os installed with out a bis account.

Default Verizon issue???

I stumbled upon the upgrade today on my phone. I was deleting some un-needed applications and searched (using my cell) for an upgrade. I downloaded the upgrade on my phone and then ran it. It hung. It said that there was not enough memory. So I went ahead and deleted a bunch more un-needed apps. The deletion required a reboot. Once the reboot was complete, the upgrade started up on it's own. An now it is hanging again
Right now it states:
Overall Backup Process:
28%
Current Database:
Application Permissions
0%
Elapsed Time
24:46

It doesn't look like it's doning anything.

Any suggestions? I've tried to turn off the phone and even a battery pull, but the upgrade just starts up again and then hangs at the exact same place.

So very sad.

Jerry

May have to wipe your device using JL_CMDer and restart App Loader to reload the BlackBerry OS.

(This will clear everything off your BB so make sure you have a Backup)

I updated last weekend and had no problems. Desktop loader was ten times faster than Sprints OTA update of the 4.5 update a couple of months ago.
Love the overall update. Bad side, multitasking sucks, extreme overload to system means more reboots, solution, easy on the multitasking. Browser is much faster of course. Almost Bolt fast. I love being able to tweak more things than previous OS. I know it sounds stupid but being able to control the volume of the ringer and such more precisely is great for me. You know ,1-10 instead of loud, med and quiet. Mine goes to eleven, you know, it's like one louder. I read about tons of battery pulls being done with this phone but the "soft" reboot i.e., alt+right shift+delete accomplishes the same thing for me. Any way I like it so far. One question for the tekkies is how can so many people with the same phone downloading the same update have so many different problems. On the surface it just doesn't make any sense.
