Default Can't Tunnel SSH when Tethered

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to tunnel to my home network from my laptop, which is tethered to my BB 9700 on T-mobile. The initial SSH connection in PuTTY works just fine, but I can't tunnel through the SSH via forwarded ports. Firefox just tells me the connection was reset.

I tried disabling IP header compression in the network connection, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm just connecting through the IP Modem section in the BB Desktop Manager.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Although the BB does act as a modem, some connection types do not work well. You mentioned a xxx8220;tunnelxxx8221;, if thatxxx8217;s a VPN the keep alive packets may be looking at the connection and not seeing a secure link so it drops. It may have to do with the software and the far end equipment that sets up the link. Not that my experience is what you may get but I have never been able to use a VPN with the BB.

It's not a VPN per se - it's an SSH tunnel, which forwards only a specific port. It doesn't make my laptop virtually part of the remote network like a VPN does. And I can make the initial SSH connection, which should be all that matters.

But therein lies the rub. It's not all that matters. By chance are you using the BBDM with the 9700 to make the 9700 a modem? Try without BBDM in the picture.
