How to update the BlackBerry Enterprise Server information after a machine name change
Overview
Background
After changing the machine name of the Microsoft Windows Server hosting the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, perform the procedure in this document to make sure that BlackBerry services run properly and that information in the BlackBerry Configuration Database is correct.
Before proceeding, make sure that you have the appropriate installation media for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server version that is currently installed.
Procedure
Complete the following steps:
- Uninstall the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Refer to the appropriate version of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Installation Guide for steps.
- Install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software and use the existing BlackBerry Configuration Database. When prompted for the service account password, change the default value under the heading for BlackBerry Enterprise Server name to the computer name of the old BlackBerry Enterprise Server or the name specified on the installation of the old BlackBerry Enterprise Server (if it was different from the old computer name). The following are examples of name changes:
Example 1- Old BlackBerry Enterprise Server computer name - BES1
- Old BlackBerry Enterprise Server name in BlackBerry Manager - BES1
- New BlackBerry Enterprise Server computer name - BES2

- Old BlackBerry Enterprise Server name in BlackBerry Manager - BlackBerryServer1
- New BlackBerry Enterprise Server computer name - BES 2
- Type BlackBerryServer1 as the BlackBerry Enterprise Server name during installation
- BlackBerry Enterprise Server name in BlackBerry Manager - BlackBerryServer1
