Default 3GP.rem ????

Please Login to Remove!

I have just tried to open this file . . .

VID 00009-20100623-1900.3GP.rem

. . . on my PC but nothing recognises the .3GP.rem file? It is a video (and photos) of several I recently took whilst on holiday in Turkey all with the same file suffix.

Other, older photos and videos do not have the .rem part and I am at a loss to know how it came about and how to get them to show on my PC.

Anyone able to offer advice? I have already tried renaming but to no avail.

I think anything with a .rem extension is encrypted... Did you turn on content protection or encryption recently?

Probably. If this is the case, what do I need to do to be able to view on my PC?

That part I am unsure of. I seem to recall reading threads talking about this. Use the red search tool at the top of the browser or in my sig and search for "content protection" or "encryption" or "rem".

EDIT: found this thread, but beware it's slightly outdated so some information may be a little incorrect.

This worked . . .

Follow Devnull's steps above to disable content protection. Then do the following to remove the extension.

Create a new folder on your media card. Move each picture with the .rem file extension to the new folder you just created. This should remove the encryption.
Thank you.
