Red face Some questions from a BB Newbie...

Please Login to Remove!

Hello

I'm new to BlackBerry (Smart)phones and have some questions. I am about to get my first BB in some weeks - basically I am tired of windows mobile, android and iOS and am looking for a good, simple and stable mobile phone and email machine.

Some questions from a newbie:
- I am used to access two IMAP mailboxes. Is the stock imap client able to work with multiple accounts?
- WLAN Router/Tethering via WLAN to share Internet and provide an uplink for e.g. a notebook/netbook - is there an app for that?
- Sync address book/phone book, calendar, SMS/MMS messages with an online service (like Microsoft MyPhone) - is there a possibility/app for that?

Thanks in advance

BIS is not full IMAP. But yes, you can add up to 10 personal accounts.
You cannot use the wi-fi in a blackberry to share with a laptop etc.
Don't believe so, you do backups of your device using Desktop Manager, so should you ever need to you can restore them.

Google Sync will let you backup wirelessly to your GMail account.

As for tethering, or sharing your BlackBerry's data connection, you can do this via Bluetooth if:
- you pair your laptop with your BB.
- subscribe to a tethering plan with your carrier.

You cannot use the BB as a mobile hotspot like some other phones that offer this feature. And your carrier must offer tethering - many in the US do not.

Thanks Midnight Draven and Rambo, sounds cool to me

So tethering is possible, not via WLAN but via BT.

Have a nice weekend.
