Default Browser now just "Hotspot Browser"

Please Login to Remove!

Not sure why, but I now only have the option for the Hotspot Browser. (This means I can't surf unless I have a WiFi signal.) I have no option to change it in th browser options or the Advanced Options -- Browser settings.

Facebook still works if that means anything.

I have an unlocked Verizon 9550 on AT&T.

Any ideas?

Try a battery pull. If that doesn't fix it, then try resending service books.

Do another battery pull. Do it with the power on. Wait a minute or three this time.

You said you resent service books. Did you actually get confirmation that they were successfully sent, and the notice(s) in your messages folder?

Yes sir. Sent, received, confirmed.

Must have something to do with this device being on AT&T. I'm stumped.

If you are using a third-party/aftermarket theme, then how about switching to a stock theme, doing another battery pull, then trying again?

If you are already using a stock theme, then I'm out of ideas short of wiping the device and possibly reinstalling the OS. See what others say. I would be tempted to do a backup then a security wipe, with third-party app removal selected, just to see what happens.

Default browser locked in Hotspot missing WAP/Internet Browser

We've been discussing this in several threads over at CB forums. Apparently it's starting to happen to multiple users with unlocked 95XXs. Resending the AT&T service books in legacy mode fixes the missing Internet Service in the browser immediately.

Omit the steps with "removing and adding the browser daemon back" after restoring the service books. This causes a restart and the service books then immediately disappear.

Facebook and other BlackBerry apps over BIS are unaffected and continue to work. Also third party browsers such as Opera Mini continue to work if you need a temporary browser away from WiFi before you can get your service books reinstalled.

Thanks guys - I will try the Legacy Mode service books. I tried Opera and BOLT. Both work, both suck.

I have an account on CB so I'll check there. Have the link by any chance?

Thanks!

I have the same issue and have not been able find anything that fixes the Hotspot Browser only issue!
I also have the 9550 on ATT and it was working for about two weeks after I had Verizon unlock it.
Then Bam, only Hotspot Browser option
I also have done all the ,Battery Pulls,Resent Service books and everything else.
I have Edge in caps and receive emails and calls just fine.

Can anyone explain sending the Service Books in Legacy because I have not done this I think ?

You absolutely have to enable legacy mode and then restore the service books from the ATT file.

Its the only way to make the internet browser work. And DO NOT reset after restoring, any restarts or battery pulls cause the service books to be deleted.

I'm on Verizon with a Storm 2 and allthough I can select different browsers it defaults back to the "Hotspot" every time I open the default browser. It's quite anoying to have to change it to "blackberry" everytime if I'm not in WiFi coverage. Reloading the OS or resending service books does not fix the issue.
