Are you using Desktop Manager 6.0?
Mine was a simple and painless switch.

I am having the same issue and it stopped the whole process for me. I went into old BB (9700) and deleted app world from the applications list and rebooted. trying switch device wizard again now. Using new 6.0 DM.

Just ran into the same issue- stopped device switch wizard midstream of installing info to new device. This happened due to BBM this time.
WTF

Were you able to get a new version of appworld? when I try to download from mobile.blackberry.com, it tells me incompatible version but I can't get the old one back. Also can't find the OS6 code anywhere so I can't reinstall from scratch either......

I finished two devices. Ended up just switching contacts etc. Applications would not switch because they were incompatible. Gotta DL new versions one by one I guess.

Please make sure that you change your profile to reflect the new model number. We prefer number over name since there are 2 Bolds - 9000 and 9650 and they are different.

i did get it to work and have been playing all day with the phone. I don't know about you guys but i'm not impressed at all.
To me, this was RIM's desperate effort to survive after iphone 4 was launched.
