9650 now better than 9700?

With OS 6.0 a reality, does the increased internal memory (512 vs 256) of the 9650 make it a better option? Seems to me that it is a safer buy than the 9700 at this time.
Am I missing something?
This is my first post, I usually lurk. My BB died and I'm deciding between 9650, 9700 (current model) or the torch 9850.
Thanks in advance for your help.

If you are a CDMA carrier customer, the 9650 is better than a 9700.
The Torch is the 9800.
You are confusing yourself.

And, if as your profile says, the 9800 would be the better buy over the 9700 if and only if, you like touch screens.

Yes, if you are with AT&T, the debate is between the newer 9800 and the 9700

You guys clearly know more than I do, but from a practical standpoint, why would I care about the network? They both work internationally, and from what I understand, AT&T has capacity issues as a result of the iphone. I'm sure CDMA vs GSM means a lot to some people, but for the typical domestic user in a large metropolitan area, I would think that based on the specs of the 2 phones, the 9650 would be a better device at this time than the 9700.
Again, I am probably missing something big, but my question was one of apples to apples and it seems the answer is that it is apples to oranges.
I trust this forum enough to know that I am most likely missing the point.

The 9650 is CDMA and will operate on EDGE (slow) on a GSM network, AFAIK. The 9800 and 9700 would run on GSM and 3G (faster), but niot at all on a CDMA network. Unless, of course you try to use your ATT 3G device on T-Mo, where they use different 3G frequencies and you would only have EDGE.
If you are looking for international connectivity, many more countries use GSM than CDMA.
The network matters because you want to use the carrier that provides the best coverage when and where you use it, where you live, work, travel and play. You have to have coverage to use the device.

You DO care about the network. Are you willing to switch carriers? That was never mentioned. Or do you want a use a 9650 on your current carrier. The network AND carrier are very important. T-Mobile and AT&T (on their 3G networks) allow you to make a call and receive e-mail at the same time. Verizon doesn't.
So it does matter.
