How do you know you really unlocked it the first time?

It latches to one bis and doesn't to mine.

And vodafone rep told me get data unlocked.
So that it can work on my sim.

Once a phone is unlocked, it's always unlocked. Forever. Sounds like it was never unlocked to begin with. Did you actually unlock it the first time, or did someone else supposedly unlock it for you?

Some one else did it,
My old vodafone BES worked on this,
And now my personal BIS doesn't work.

I did
Options>>advance options>>SIM>>MEPD
And network active..
Then
MEP2 pops box to enter code.

This happens in OS4.2
But after loading OS4.5.
Options>>advance options>>SIM>>MEPD
And network inactive.

And MEP2 doesn't work.

So weird.

**post moved to existing thread**

There's no need to create a new thread on the same subject from yesterday.

You are correct, the MEP codes are 16 digit. The eight digit one won't work.

The 8830 can be used on GSM 900MHz, both for voice and data. It was designed as one of the first "world phones" but for roaming outside North America only. The idea was to use the Verizon international data roaming plan with the SIM card Verizon provides. But folks have used it unlocked to get their email on BIS on just the GSM side.

Check out www.horizonwirelessonline.com to get a legit unlock code.
