I tried looking around to see if there were posts with similar issues as mine but considering my situation...I'm a tad bit impatient. I just got a Curve 8530 through Virgin Mobile and everything works fine...except I can't make calls. If I take the battery out and put it back in, I'm able to make calls for about 20 seconds afterwards, then the phone freezes and disconnects the call. When I call someone, I can't hear them and they can't hear me. If they call me, the phone rings, but the same thing happens. I want to downgrade to a previous OS but I'm not sure how to do that. I can't find a download link for an older OS version, my phone has 5.0.0.601. PLEASE HELP!!!
It may have two reasons.
First, the battery is not compatible with your phone. Is the battery is original? If not, Try a oem battery on it.
If it still can't work, try second. The second reason is that the phone data is wrong, try to restore it to factory. It is advisable to back up the files before storing.
well...things haven't changed any. i don't think there's an updated version unless i'm missing something (and that's entirely possible). the battery is the original (has the blackberry logo on it and everything). i've done a security wipe two or three times and that hasn't changed anything. it's just stupid that everything works except for making/receiving calls and sounds, it makes no sound of any kind when this is happening.
if there is a more recent version out i'd be more than will to try it, i'd be more than willing to try just about anything lol. btw when i tried to downgrade the OS it said something about unresolved modules and wouldn't let me.
oh yeah, i tried downgrading it with the desktop manager and it said something about modules not being resolved. i know someone had the phone before me because there was a different number in the phone when i got it. HELP!!!

i bought it from ebay, it was slightly used. i had my number ported over from sprint and that process was pretty smooth. i had problems with it from the beginning with the calls, before i even put any apps or anything on it. it's not under warranty unless i buy one for it, but it's just weird that only the two things on it don't work are the calling and the sound.
just remembered that it reboots sometimes when i make a call or when someone calls me. and as for the signal, it's not like the call doesn't connect because it does, i guess the only way i can describe it is when i dial someone's number, the sound i hear is equivalent to putting the phone up to your ear when the phone isn't on lol. i've never had a problem with this on any other phone i've had (or phone company).

since i pretty much have to put the phone in the mail tomorrow i think i'll just send it back and get a refund and get a new one so i won't have to worry about hardware issues. thanks!
mzhoneythang if you refer to my PM in response to yours you will find a link for the newest 8530 version that may resolve this give that a try and if not put it in the mail it should allow you to download 5.0.0.1000 for the 8530 and install no problem
if you have a problem installing delete the Vendor.xml file in the apploader folder and you should be gold
hope this works if not sender back!

i can't get past the "unresolved modules" message in the desktop manager, that seems to be the only thing that's keeping me from updating. i tried doing a wireless update but it doesn't find anything.
ok i've reinstalled the OS, waiting for it to boot. it was suggested to me on another forum to monitor battery and memory levels and to use it in safe mode to keep third party apps from running when they shouldn't be but even when i don't have apps on the phone i can't make or receive calls.
