Still trying to work with my new Bold. I am having trouble getting Contact Alerts to work. It seems to work for phone calls but not SMS Text and Blackberry Messenger, even though it looks like I have set it up correctly and it tests correctly. Please help

Hi to all Gurus here.

Same problem here.

Had the Caller Id problem not showing for sms.
Upgraded to v5.0.0.862 and problem is solved.

But the ringtones for contact alerts and profiles are not recognized for playing.

I upgraded from a Curve 8300 with no such problems.
Copied all the data (including profiles) over to the 9700.


Any help?

With the 9700 you cannot have spaces or hyphens in the contact's phone number for certain alerts to work. Good luck.

That was also the problem with phone calls.
RIM fixed that for phone calls. But why did they not do the same for sms alerts?

I really can not believe that BB funs do not matter about this problem.

Sorry to rekindle an old thread but this still seems to be an issue.
I have one contact set to silent yet BB messages from them still sound.

Is there any punctuation in the phone number?

I don't have this issue - albeit I have other contact specific tone issues; bugs.
