Unless it is running your free memory down to the 10-15M range or lower, the number of apps shouldn't cause this. Of course, there is always the possibility of a misbehaving app. I reinstalled .546 on my phone after removing every bit of Blackberry software from my PC and only reinstalling Desktop and the .546 loader. The Phone CPU usage problem is still there, but I don't think it is the Phone module itself, anymore. This OS version does an outstanding job of managing memory. Mine stays at 62M free, whereas .480 would start at about 54M free after a reboot and work its way down to just below 30M free. My latest theory is that there is some kind of background memory management going on and my phone is a particularly big mess for it to clean up. It appears that the excessive Phone CPU usage is just a measurement fluke and the excessive CPU time is actually being used by the OS. I've noticed that any activity I do runs the Phone CPU usage to zero, but it returns to near 100% if I leave it alone, indicating that it's a background process. I'm hoping that things will get better as the background memory management process cleans things up. I plan to give it a few more days to see if things improve. I've already noticed fewer instances where it freezes for extended periods. I'd recommend living with it for a while and see if it gets better.
