Europe has it, the US has it, I think even Australia has it. When will Canada see UMTS??? I'm very curious to see if it will interfere with medical devices (i.e. hearing aids, cochlear implants). If UMTS will work with hearing aids, and Rogers gets onto the network, I will be a very happy BBer.

If you're referring to the GSM "buzz" or "mosquito" sound, then no, this is gone with UMTS.

Australia has it already? I was under the impression that they had just announced plans to begin building it out...not sure they have it already.

Mark, since you brought up Howardforums, the HTML site no longer works on my 8700. It worked fine for the first month then about New Years Eve it started not doing anything but "Requesting" until it times out. Do you have any power to get the admins there to look into this? There is a thread on the Hofo RIM forum about it

Jase88, is the buzz gone in Microphone mode or Telecoil mode? or both? Mark, I couldnt find any info on UMTS in Canada on the site you mentioned.

^^ The "buzz" is gone--period. Also, the interference with electronics in close proximity to the phone is gone as well....no more narrowband GSM RF splash...

Sounds like a sweet deal to me. Can't wait for Rogers to get on the band wagon for UMTS.
