hello. i am from the uk and will be visiting the us on tues for 10 days. I have purchased 20mg of blackberry services for my travel, i will be telling all BBM conatcts not to message me and will turn off my email. i will just be using whatsapp messenger to speak to 1 contact, how many messages roughly will i be able to send recieve?

What does "20 mg" mean?

20 megabytes?

If so, that's not very much.

I'm thinking 20 megabytes. What do you want to do? Email that one contact? surf the internet?

If you were using BBM only one message is just a few kb's. And there are 1024 kb's in a megabyte so it should be ok. Send pictures and it will be a bit more.

If you have emails and whatnot coming in plus doing some browsing it will be more but 20 mb may be doable with light use.

Use wifi where you can, depending which BB you have you can also run BIS over wifi.

Yeah, for 10 days. With no email and no internet and no data applications other than BBM and instant messaging, maybe you will be okay.

The only is I don't know how much data Whatsapp uses. BBM is pretty much just text (unless you are sending files), but Whatsapp might behave differently. And does it have advertisements in it when it runs? If so, those will use data.

Another thought/question with regard to Whatsapp overhead....Does it continually poll a server for new content? If so, that may be significant, and you may want to be sure and fully exit it when not using.
