Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I admin for about 40 BB users, in the last 3 weeks, after 2 years+ of normal operation, my users have started to recieve 9-18 copies of the smae message over an hour or so. it seems totally random, and it will happen to one person for 2 or 3 days but most others won't be afftected then it'll happen to someone else for a couple of days, at least 3 or 4 people at a time are getting this wierdness. i just have a forward to a contact which is their webclient address. anybody got any ideas? Thanks for taking the time!

Are you running BES or BIS? If you go here http://blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=24830 There is some discussion about it if you are using BIS.

Red face thanks for the point to the thread

it seems this isn't isolated, if it's happening to that many people only recently after a system has been fairly stable for a couple of years.... it has to be something on rim's side (a work around for the lawsuit with a bug perhaps?)
*sigh, these things are great, but man are they fickle beasts
thanks again!

Maybe the webclient settings are, leave mail on the server. Then it is possible that the mailbox is corrupt, or something like this. Contact the carrier..

Default Exchange/BB frustration

Going through the same problem. I have an Exchange 2000 server with the mail being forwarded to the Blackberry web client. Have gone through the web client settings and found nothing there. Had the users email forwarded to my berry and got the same thing. It is definitely the server side. Sent test emails x4, the first two were good, the last two started going crazy, blackberry fills up quite quickly. If you have found anything, would love to know what you did.

Don't know if you saw this, but RIM took care of it for me.
From post: http://blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=24830

I've had the same problem for over a month since I had my number ported. After talking with RIM the first few days they couldn't figure it out. I then called for another issued and the girl I spoke to did a Reassociation of the blackberry with my Outlook Web Account. Before I would get the duplicates every 15-30 minutes. Give RIM a call and asked them if they have tried Reassociating your Blackberry with your Email account

You have a simple forward to blackberry email address.
You have access to your server SMTP logs, right?

What wireless carrier your users are on?

These copies of email messages, are they in webclient, too- or only on blackberry? How many copies of emails can you find in webclient?

These emails, do they have many recipients including distribution lists, or they are sent just to one recipient?

Can blackberry user reply to duplicate email from the blackberry, can they do "reply all"- and are there any issues with replies?

Did you check SMTP logs and can guarantee that your server sent email only once and didn't retry multiple times? If it did, what error message it received from the RIM mail server?

Can you post fresh SMTP logs for such 'bad' email? You can mask recipient name but keep message ID.
