It's normal. A lot of folks have put a business card, or piece of paper between the battery and the sliding door. This tightens it up and it doesn't move much.

The first 8700 that I bought moved like you are talking about. So much that as I typed on my keys the back of the phone would click back and forth. This seems to be a defect in the casing, as there were several in the store that had this problem. I finally found one that doesnt move at all, which is how a battery door should fit. This is my first Blackberry and while I am impressed with its capabilities, I am astounded (for the money) with its build quality. From the slits in the sides between the black molding and gray molding, where as talked about in other threads, light escapes and dirt enters, to the loose backing of several models. Throw in the dust issue for good measure and it just doesnt make good sense. Oh, one last thing. Where there is the silver lining around the screen that meets the gray, the space between the silver and the gray on one side is GREATLY (not being picky, I can literally put my fingernail down into the crevice on one side) wider than that of the other side. I really like the device I just wish it was built a little better. KS
