Default Any way to tell when your 8700c was made?

hey all i have been searching and it looks like there is no way to tell when your 8700c was made besides calling up RIM themselves, so is there anyway that we can find out ourselves by just looking at our phones? thank you.

Are you trying to figure out which fab and which line your device came out of? There is no comprehensive non-RIM database available online that I'm aware of that has this information.

The only date indication I could find is the month/year stamp when the plastic parts were injection moulded. The battery cover, front and rear covers are all date stamped.

I've learned something. Mine is 09-20-05. Keyboard's loose and trackwheel doesn't have the original strong ratchety feel. I guess if I get another later build it will be better.

I've had two T-Mobile 8700g devices now. The first one was a loan device from the UK Press Office, and it felt quite lightweight and plasticy, especially after the solid old 7290.

The second device (which I recently bought) must be more recent, and feels much more solid and robust. The plastic is either stronger or thicker, can't really tell which. And the scroll wheel feels much more positive too.

Shame they didn't give me one of those originally, as I criticised the plasticy feel in my review.

Ordered two 8700c via Amazon. One keyboard is loose and the other has a smooth trackwheel. Strange!
