I know that there isn't a way right now for the 7100i to let you add mp3 ringtones on the 7100i, but I'm wondering why is that? Like you can do it on others correct? Don't they all use the same os?
I'm assuming it's because the 7100i doesn't have the firmware required to play MP3s. Kinda asking what can't my Car Stereo CD player play MP3s -- (mine can - but most can not)
On the other blackberrys, is it an application that allows it to work or hardware? If its an app, can't we just get it off of that blackberry and then add it to ours?
Well it isn't exactlly mp3. Its another format. I can't think of it right now its like ad or od something. Look around in the forums. It will tell you the format.
its adp which is similar to mp3. the 7100i has the hardware(but not the firmware, yet) to play wav files (true audio, uncompressed) hopefully we will get it soon. the 8700 series plays wav files already.
Is there any news from Nextel as to when this firmware might be released? Do you have to have the firmware for the 7100i, or can you use the firmware for one that works?
i havent been around in a long time (traded my 7100i for a 930 that was stolen from me two weeks later. Then I got the 870 from nextel and that was stolen from me at gun point yesterday) but I am still pretty sure that as soon as someone fom nextel releases the firmware we will be on the top of the list to know about it. patient young grasshopper!
