Default Is there anything like Microsoft Money

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking for a program like Microsoft Money that I can use to balance my checkbook and track expenses that I can sync and use on both my Blackberry and my laptop. Is there anything like that, or am I dreaming?

Ascendo Money is pretty good. It has a Balance that you can set at any date so you can reconcile it with a bank account.

Default Ascendo Money

I had both versions 1 and 2 of Ascendo Money. I really like version 2 because it allows you to sync it with your desktop. It also displays your balance on the bottom. It beats carrying around your checkbook all the time for balances!

Does it synch with MS Money or its own program?

Ascendo V2 synchs with it's own desktop program. The desktop program can export and import QIF files or CSV files if that helps you.
Version 2 is pretty well thought out and works well.

Ascendo Money syncs with it's own desktop program which is pretty simple and straightfoward. From what i understand it may work with quicken but I just used the ascendo desktop program. As for wisespent, it is not too bad but it just seemed a pain in the butt to always be required to specify if this payment was entertainment, food, car payment, etc... I couldn't find a way to disable this as I just wanted a simple balance program and Ascendo works well for that. For some people Wisespent may be the better for them it just all depends on your preferences.. if you want to keep track of the percentage of your spendings .. maybe wisespent is better for that. When I tried them they were free trials. Not sure if they still are but if they are just download them both and try them both out to see which you like.

Marc from Ascendo here.

Ascendo Money(BlackBerry) synchronizes with Ascendo Money Desktop(Windows PC). You can import and export from the Ascendo Money Desktop to QIF or CSV format. These formats can be used to exchange data with Microsoft Money and Quicken. Direct sync to Quicken & MS Money is on our development roadmap but we can't commit to a date.

I've been looking at Ascendo Money for the last few days. It appears to be a very good program and I'll most likely purchase it. I have some enhancements and a few defects to report which I sent to Ascendo but I thought I'd copy them here just to share my experience.

Slim

Enhancements
------------
1. Add a Find by "user field" in handheld and desktop to mark issues paid/unpaid to resolve the account. I'd use Find to locate check numbers so I can mark them paid.
2. Include the "user field" value in the .csv file that can be emailed - In my case I use this field for the payment method such as check # or credit card or ATM transaction.
3. Display a total for filtered items on the handheld. That way you can view the total amount for unpaid items or totals for a category you filter by etc.
4. Allow sorting of the Paid column in the desktop application. I suggest if you click on the paid column it groups dates and paid items together and groups dates and unpaid items together. That way you could group unpaid items to the top of the list for resolving with your bank account.

Defects
-------
1. When you archive an account it marks all unpaid items as paid which is incorrect.
2. When you archive an account it adds a new item to an account with a value of 0.00.
