Default Tmo 4.1 -> Csl 4.1

I don't know how many other people have done this but, I'm trying to get trad chinese support on my -g. I've got CSL running on my unlocked -c with no problem getting traditional chinese characters to show up.

When I got my -g today, I installed TMO's latest 4.1, found that it did not have traditional chinese display support (even though I did install trad. chinese input), I then downloaded CSL 4.1 and picked up all the Chinese related stuff I could find and still no dice. Should I wipe my -g and just do CSL?

I'm at the brink of installing CSL 4.1 myself. I have been battling this issue since I received my 8700g last week. One other user here mentioned that they were able to display Chinese characters in their e-mails right out of the box.

After much playing around, I found that I was able to display some, but not all Chinese characters. They either showed up correctly or appeared as little black boxes where the characters should be. I've even checked with TSupport, who mentioned that I have to have the regional settings correct on my BES, which they are.

Let me know how you make out with this!

I'm thinking about just wiping the handset complete and just installing CSL 4.1, i.e. trying to duplicate the process that I went through with my -c to get Chinese characters to display properly.

And take comfort, you're at least half a step in front of me, when I sent myself an email with chinese text, I don't even see the black boxes! Just an empty email.

Let me know how it goes - since my device is working quite well for me now, I'm hesitant to make such a drastic change at this time.

i was *thinking* of making language packs available for download. i will see about taking up that project, assuming its not too terribly complicated (shouldn't be, but you never know).

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

When you are on a web page, try click the wheel and choose set encoding, hit the ALT key and you can see all the available encoding, I did try every single one and still get some "blackbox" instead of chinese characters, but most of it display correctly, I am going to try the CSL version later the week end.

Sorry to side-step this thread but my questions is: If you can "make" lanaguage pack - can you then make a "Zen Theme pack" so that I can install it while I am loading CSL's firmware into my BB?

CSL has zen I believe. Or if it doesn't, you can just use java_loader to load the .cod file.

can someone point me to a right direction of where to download the 4.1.0.351 for CSL HK? I found out a post regarding the "Starhub" for 8700g 4.1.0.371 but I do not know the diff between CSL and Starhub.

found the CSL version https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B42B2DBB8F27B6

I have already installed the CSL 4.1.0.35 and installed the chinese traditional input and fonts. However, when I select it from

option --> screen/keyboard --> Font Family --> select BBTradChinese.

None of the chinese email I forwarded to my google and yahoo would display the chinese characters correctly.

However, i tried to view the chinese webpage and the website displays correct withou boxes

any ideas?
